Participating in the MTN Foundation ICT and Business Skills Training Program (Cohort 7), has been a truly transformative experience for me as an entrepreneur.
As the founder of ALS Designs (Amazing Love Superb Designs), a furniture design and production business, I joined the program with the desire to digitalize my operations and gain stronger business and ICT skills to help my brand grow in a competitive environment. Before the training, my business relied mostly on offline processes and word-of-mouth referrals, with limited digital presence and structure.
Through this program, I gained practical knowledge in areas such as digital tools for business, branding, customer engagement, online marketing, record-keeping, and strategic planning. The lessons were clear, relevant, and tailored to the real challenges faced by micro and small business owners. The training also helped me develop a growth mindset, encouraging me to view my business not just as a small enterprise, but as a brand with long-term potential.
One of the most valuable outcomes of the training is the confidence I now have in using digital platforms to promote my business, communicate with customers, and present my brand more professionally. I have already started applying these skills by improving my business branding, organizing my customer communication, and taking steps to strengthen my online presence. These changes have helped me attract better inquiries and position my business more credibly.
Beyond the technical skills, the program also inspired me to be more intentional about planning, record-keeping, customer experience, and sustainability. The facilitators and learning structure were supportive and practical, making it easy to understand and implement the lessons.
I am sincerely grateful to the MTN Foundation for providing this opportunity to empower small business owners with relevant ICT and business skills. This program has not only strengthened my capacity as an entrepreneur but has also positively influenced the direction and future of my business.
